Our Community

Who We Proudly Serve

All programs are trans-affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive.

Foster Care Alumni

Young adults 18–24 aging out of Philadelphia's foster care system. Many face family rejections, no credit history, and limited professional preparation. We support youth aging out of foster care in securing safe, stable housing and building independent lives. Through personalized case management, life-skills programming, and access to education and employment resources, we help young people navigate this transition and achieve long-term stability.

Mental Health

Rapid Rehousing

We support individuals and families experiencing homelessness—including reentering citizens and refugees—in quickly securing safe, stable housing. Through short-term assistance and personalized support, we connect participants to housing, employment resources, and services that ease transition and promote long-term independence.

Veterans

Veterans navigating housing instability, VA benefits access, discharge barriers, and military trauma. We help veterans quickly secure safe, stable housing by providing affordable housing solutions. Our program connects veterans to housing, employment resources, and essential services to ease transition and promote long-term independence.

Our Story

Positive Connections Cars is a heartfelt tribute to a legacy of compassion and community service. Envisioned by Melva D. Sharpe, the organization was born from her unwavering belief in the power of human connection and her dedication to uplifting those in need. Melva envisioned a world where every individual, regardless of their circumstances, could find support, dignity, and a path to a better life.

Her vision was deeply rooted in community—a belief that true change begins when people come together to support one another. She dedicated her life to helping others, always with a warm smile and an open heart.

Following Melva's passing, her children, Tiffany M. Sharpe and Michael Sharpe Jr., embraced her vision as their guiding principle. They honor her memory by continuing her work, ensuring that her legacy lives on through Positive Connections. Their commitment to the community reflects the values Melva instilled in them: empathy, resilience, and the importance of a supportive network.

At Positive Connections Cares, we provide a safe and nurturing environment for those aging out of foster care, adults— veterans, survivors of domestic violence, and individuals experiencing chronic homelessness and adults with disabilities.

Through our partnership with Positive Connections, we provide more than just housing—we offer programming around economic empowerment and financial stability that empower individuals to heal, grow, and rebuild their lives.

In every action we take, we strive to embody Melva's spirit: to connect, to serve with care, and to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.
